ProCite 5 For Macintosh®

For Immediate Release

Carlsbad, CA, USA - September 25, 2001
- Today, ISI ResearchSoft released a major upgrade to its ProCite® software that transforms the popular bibliographic program into a powerful online research tool. ProCite version 5 manages references from the Internet to the creation of bibliographies. Version 5 delivers the industry's easiest access to reference data on the Internet, eliminates the tasks of formatting bibliographies and comes with unique data management tools.

ProCite's powerful features and intuitive interface makes it ideal for government and academic researchers, librarians, writers and students who need to find, import, manage and perfectly format reference data for professional journals, grants, dissertations, theses, CVs, research papers and regulatory filings.

"We are pleased to offer Internet searching with ProCite 5 for the Macintosh," said David Kochalko, President of ISI ResearchSoft. "Now Macintosh users can tap research information available online by accessing Internet libraries directly from ProCite. New Internet searching combined with its powerful database management capabilities make ProCite ideal for information professionals and researchers," Kochalko continued.

Search PubMed and Hundreds of Internet Libraries
With ProCite version 5, building a database has never been easier. Users can search PubMed or hundreds of Internet libraries from ProCite and create databases instantly. ProCite ships with immediate access to hundreds of Internet libraries, and users can easily add new sites. These Internet libraries include academic, government, and public library catalogs as well as popular Web-based subscription services from Ovid Technologies, SilverPlatter and OCLC, among others (subscriber account and password required). Users can search hundreds of Internet libraries simultaneously and save search queries for frequent use.

"By enhancing the program with the ability to search the Internet, you improved its usefulness greatly - at least by an order of magnitude," said Dr. Jozef Zon, Chair of Theoretical Biology, of the Catholic University of Lublin, Poland, about ProCite 5.

Produce Perfectly Formatted Bibliographies Instantly
ProCite version 5 offers significant improvements to its Cite While You Write™ technology. The new Cite While You Write window allows users to view complete references and to click-sort on the column headings for easy access to their references—all without leaving their word processor. Version 5 also supports new footnote style formatting and now ships with bibliographic styles for over 600 journals and publications. ProCite can also create a subject listing by topic and produce an index.

"I like the new Cite While You Write features - it's great to be able to see the citations to decide which one to use," said Tom Salt of University College, London.
